NJ Releases Final Energy Plan with Little Change

Gov. Chris Christie has released the final version of his energy master plan with little change to the draft he first proposed in June.
He released the new version Tuesday.
The biggest change to the plan, which requires Legislative approval, calls for helping stabilize the market for a solar incentive program by speeding up annual renewable energy goals by one to three years.
The Republican governor’s plan calls also for 22.5 percent of the state’s energy to come from renewable sources by 2021. That’s down from the 30 percent target set during Democratic former Gov. Jon Corzine’s administration.
Additionally, it mandates a 17 percent reduction in energy use by 2021. Environmentalists believe the target should be at least 20 percent.
