No one was injured in an early morning fire on West Jersey Avenue in Hamilton Township Monday Morning.

Fire crews battle the fire and single digit temperatures at the home of Thomas Sear. Sear awoke to the sound of cracking in a wall, near a wood burning stove. He could also see smoke inside the home. Sear was able to call 911 and evacuate all family members and pets.

Members of the Mays Landing, Cologne, and Bargaintown Volunteer Fire Departments responded and extinguished the fire.  Assistance was provided by the Township of Hamilton Rescue Squad.

Police report that the Sear family is staying with family members.

According to police, "The dwelling suffered damage to the top floor and attic area.  The fire remains under investigation but appears to have been caused by a malfunction in the chimney or wood burning stove."
