A man from North Wildwood is facing charges after police say he posted violent threats on Facebook about conducting a mass shooting.

The Cape May County Prosecutors Office says 20-year-old Jake M. Freeman of North Wildwood is facing a false public alarm charge.

According to a press release, during the early morning hours of June 24th, members of the Wildwood Police Department received information that Freeman allegedly posted threats on his Facebook page. A subsequent investigation revealed that Freeman allegedly posted violent threats on Facebook about conducting a mass shooting. Freeman was charged with false public alarm.

Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor says threats made on social media will be taken seriously and the Prosecutor's Office will prosecute individuals involved in making these threats to the fullest extent of the law.
