Ocean City has announced that the city's 34th Street Bridge will be closed overnight Wednesday.

The bridge is receiving new decking for the first time since it was constructed in 1964.

The Roosevelt Boulevard Bridge, connecting Ocean City and Upper Township, is undergoing a two-year, $6.5 million construction project.

Crews will be switching the lane of traffic in preparation for the last stage of Cape May County’s two-year project, according to a statement from Ocean City.

Drivers should seek alternate routes overnight Wednesday. The single-lane alternating pattern will resume Thursday morning.

Cape May County officials hope to finish the project by May of 2018.
