Job seekers have a unique opportunity to get interview attire and find work at a one-stop event this Friday by the Mental Health Association in New Jersey.

Suit Up For Success is being held at the agency's Toms River location for Ocean County residents in need.

The event includes some new accessories, according to Rachel O'Dea, the employment readiness coordinator for MHANJ-Ocean.

"Instead of just giving men interview attire, there's also women interview attire, as well as a resume editing station, and also a job fair," said O'Dea.

Garments picked out could be worn for potential face-to-face meetings with several featured vendors, including Wawa, Santander, Stop N Shop, Sears, Ocean Mental Health, and Preferred, according to O'Dea.

The agency has a 35 percent success rate in helping people gain employment through this event. She also noted that Suit Up For Success is part of a work-activity program for people currently looking for employment who are getting certified in retail.

The free attire also has given out-of-work people opportunities to attend interviews outside of the agency's job fair and other special events, such as weddings, that they might not otherwise have been able to attend because they lacked the proper attire, according to O'Dea.

She pointed out that MHANJ-Ocean gave away a total of 1,135 pieces of attire through four previous events. They are always seeking donations of shoes, dresses, suites, shirts, pants, coats and ties.

Those in need of interview work clothes should make an appointment by calling the employment office at 732-279-6500 or email O'Dea at rodea@mhanj.org. Walk-ins are welcome for the job fair and resume editing station.

Friday's event will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at MHANJ-Ocean's in Toms River, 226 Route 37 West, Unit #6.
