Police in Egg Harbor Township have made two arrests in connection with a recent string of break-ins in the township. Officials say, though similar, the cases do not appear to be related.

30-year-old Nicholas Maraldo of Mays Landing and 24-year-old Nicholas Ward of Egg Harbor Township have been arrested following numerous car burglaries in various EHT neighborhoods.

According to police, Maraldo was arrested following a series of burglaries in the Bargaintown section of the township, "the burglaries took place on multiple days over at least a week-long period of time. Maraldo entered unlocked vehicles and removed items of value including credit cards, which he later used fraudulently in Atlantic City.
The investigation also revealed that Maraldo stole three motor vehicles, with a cumulative value of over $100,000.00, and three license plates from a local car dealership."

Maraldo was charged with seven counts of theft, three counts of motor vehicle theft, two counts of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and four counts of burglary. He's being held in jail on $100,000 bond.

Police say Ward was arrested following a vehicle burglary in the Silver Oaks development in the Bargaintown section. He was charged with burglary and held in  jail on $5,000 bond.

In a statement, police say, "Residents are encouraged to lock their vehicles and not store valuables inside. Anyone who may have been a victim of a recent burglary which was not reported is asked to call Detective Rich Vogt (609-926-4127) of the Egg Harbor Township Police Department Criminal Investigation Bureau."
