One person was killed Sunday evening in a car-pedestrian accident that resulted in the closing of the major Atlantic City artery for two hours Monday night.

Atlantic City Police say that just before 7pm, a person was walking in the left lane of Route 322, near the Shell gas station, when he was struck by a car. The pedestrian, who hasn't been identified pending notification of next of kin, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the car that hit him, which was driven by Jaun Restrepo, 38, from Hyattsville, Maryland, immediately stopped in the roadway. His car was then struck by another vehicles, driven by Joel Scott, 40, of Ventnor. Scott's vehicle was also hit by another vehicle, driven by Raina Roche, 20, of Margate. Police say Restrepo was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, while the other drivers were evaluated at the scene and released.

The accident remains under investigation.
