Police in Egg Harbor Township have identified a man struck and killed on the Black Horse Pike Wednesday night.

Police say a Charles Gurney, 44, of Pleasantville was crossing the Pike just before 10pm last night when he was struck by a car and killed. The accident happened near the Hebrew Academy.

According to a report,

A 2012 Chevy Sonic operated by Marquee Hartsfield, 22 years of age from Vineland, was traveling west on the Black Horse Pike when he encountered the pedestrian in the roadway. The Chevy Sonic struck the pedestrian after a near miss by another motorist. The pedestrian was treated at the scene by the Egg Harbor Township Ambulance Squad and AtlantiCare paramedics. He was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center City Campus where he was pronounced deceased.
