Atlantic City Police say two men were arrested and a handgun was recovered Tuesday night after they received reports of shots being fired.

According to a press release, cops responded to the 1500 block of Sewell Avenue around 7:15 Tuesday night after hearing numerous gunshots in the area. Arriving officers located evidence of gunfire and surveillance center personnel were able to locate two suspects fleeing the area.

Two ACPD officers observed two men matching the description of the fleeing suspects in the 1900 block of Blaine Avenue on the porch of a home. As the officers began to speak with the men, one, identified as 21-year-old Ibinnassi Bailey of Atlantic City, attempted to flee. Cops were able to quickly detain him and place him in custody. An officer located a loaded handgun in Bailey’s waistband.

The second man, 21-year-old Zaire Bailey of Pine Hill, was found to have an active warrant for his arrest. He was arrested without incident.

Bailey was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a defaced firearm, and resisting arrest. Bailey was charged with contempt of court. Both men were remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
