A widely circulated report is true. Showboat Casino is announcing today that it will become the 2nd Atlantic City Casino this year to close it's doors.

Caesar's Entertainment will make the announcement of the pending closure today. August 31st will be the closing date.

The move will put more than 2,000 people out of work. The Atlantic Club Casino closed its doors back in January. Revel, meanwhile, has been threatening that it, too, may have to close.

The Showboat is home to one of the largest House of Blues franchises - a venue that has been popular in recent years for bringing in mid-level country acts. No word on whether the House of Blues will find a new home in Atlantic City.
