Single-Engine Plane Crashes off Atlantic City; Debris Field Found [VIDEO]
Authorities say a single-engine plane crashed Thursday afternoon off the coast of Atlantic City.
The Coast Guard and the New Jersey State Police Marine Unit were in search and rescue mode after a single-engine plane crashed off of the coast of Atlantic City around 2:45 Thursday afternoon. The plane was headed for Atlantic City International Airport in Pomona from Gaylord, Michigan. A debris field was found seven miles off of the coast.
The pilot of the plane has been identified as 68-year-old Michael Moir of Gaylord, MI. As of Friday morning, crews continue to search the waters for Moir.
A reporter for WWTV-TV in Michigan talked to pilots that fly out of Gaylord Regional Airport. Pilot Ken Lentz told the TV station, “This is a small town kind of airport. That’s a terrible thing. I have no idea what went wrong but you always feel bad when a plane goes down.”
