I learned the hard way about something else not to leave in a hot car.

No, I didn't leave a child or an animal in my car.

With temperatures approaching 100 degrees this week, I probably should have thought about the bottle of white wine I left in my car.

The bottle - corked and never opened - was in a fabric bag in the back seat of my car. I put it there Tuesday and forgot about it.

Thursday, I remembered - when I got it my car and it smelled like, well, wine.

Apparently, the heat warmed up the bottle to the point that the cork pushed out - letting the wine flow from the bottle.

By the time I discovered what had happened, there was no wine left. It had apparently been absorbed into a pile of surrounding tshirts (want a different smelling Cat Country tshirt?) and my fabric seats.

"Is that that new car smell I always hear about."

"Nope. Pinot Grigio. 2012."
