On duty or off duty, New Jersey's finest are always ready to serve!

New Jersey State Police say it was own of their own off duty troopers who came to the rescue of two people trapped in a burning car on the Atlantic City Expressway Tuesday Morning.

Shortly after 7:30am, Sergeant First Class James Mitchell, who works as part of the State Police's Casino Operations Unit, was on his way home from work when he spotted the crashed car on the Expressway.

Despite the vehicle being engulfed in flames Sergeant Mitchell was able to free both occupants from the car.
