The American Red Cross is helping almost a dozen people who were displaced from their apartments after a stolen pick-up truck crashed into several stores and caught fire in the pre-dawn hours of Christmas in Atlantic City.

Around 4:30 Christmas morning, officers responded to the 3300 block of Atlantic Avenue. Cops say a pick-up truck being driven by 20-year-old Rowan Arlan of Somers Point, was seen traveling at a high rate of speed before it smashed into a store and caught fire. Responding emergency personnel evacuated the apartments above the store as well as people from a neighboring building.

The truck that Arlan was driving was reported stolen from Pleasantville later that morning.

Arlan is facing DWI, reckless driving, careless driving, suspended driver, possession of a controlled dangerous substance (marijuana), and receiving stolen property charges. Arlan was released on a summons with a future court date.
