‘Glee,’ Fox’s hit musical television show about a high school glee club, is known for it’s larger-than-life covers of popular songs. Coming up this season, on May 15, Coach Bieste (Dot-Marie Jones) and Puck (Mark Salling) will collaborate on a duet of ‘Mean,’ the No. 1 song off of Taylor Swift’s ‘Speak Now’ album — with a glee club-style twist, of course.

It’s a wonder that Swift hasn’t been featured on ‘Glee’ before, especially since reports of her social life sometimes read like the cast list of the popular show. In 2010, the 22-year-old crossover success was spotted bowling with Cory Monteith (who plays Finn on the show), and last year, she hit up a basketball game with Chord Overstreet (who plays Sam). Lately, Swift has been palling around with Dianna Agron (who plays Quinn).

Last weekend (April 28th) Swift partook in an early circus-themed birthday party for Agron’s 26th (and dressed the part of a tigress to fit with the fete’s theme). The two also glammed it up and went to a fancy dinner in honor of Shirley MacLaine’s 77th birthday just a few days earlier, so she’s definitely got an “in” with the cast.

Several other country stars have had their hits reappropriated by the ‘Glee’ cast in the past few years. The top-rated show has featured Toby Keith‘s ‘Red Solo Cup,’ Jerrod Niemann‘s ‘How Can I Be So Thirsty,’ Lady Antebellum‘s ‘Need You Now,’ and Dolly Parton‘s classic hit, ‘Jolene.’

Of course, country music’s sweetheart doesn’t have time to rest on her laurels, waiting for her song to appear on television. Swift has been spending lots of time at home focusing on her next album, which she has hinted will include more sad songs than we’ve heard from her previously. Rumors are also running rampant that Swift will play Joni Mitchell in the movie adaptation of the book ‘Girls Like Us.’
