The Big Game And A Big Waistline
It’s kind of funny that millions of Americans will watch highly-trained, in-shape professional athletes this weekend while eating things covered in mayonnaise and chicken wing sauce.
The Big Game is coming up this Sunday and you can already taste the snacks you have planned. This Sunday is the second-largest day of food consumption in the country (the largest day is Thanksgiving). So, what will most people be munching on?
- The average person will eat about 1,200 calories of stuff.
- Nearly 70 million pounds of avocados (for guacamole) will be consumed. Yes — avocados are a fruit — fruit is healthy — see, it’s not all junk food (at least that’s what I’m telling myself).
- An estimated 450,000,000 chicken wings will be consumed.
- 29,000,000 pounds of chips and 8,000,000 pounds of popcorn will be snacked-on.
And the day after? Over half of the population of the United Stated will drink coffee on the Monday following the Super Bowl and 7-11 typically reports a 20-percent increase in the sale of antacids.
How’s that New Years resolution to drop a few pounds doing?
