A new 'MasterChef Junior' was crowned last night on FOX.  Did West Deptford's own Andrew Zappley walk away with the $100,000 grand prize?

Unfortunately, Andrew did not win the ultimate prize, but it was a battle well fought.

Nathan, from San Francisco, was the winner of the reality cooking show.  Andrew was a tough competitor, but the judges deemed Nathan's meal better by a smidge.

Each contestant got to pick their own ingredients and their own menu.

Nathan's menu consisted of a roasted fennel gratin with french ham and fennel salad, an herb-crusted lamb chop with an asparagus puree and a dessert of an Early Grey tea tart with blood orange coulis.

Andrew's menu started with herbed ricotta cheese with roasted beets and pumpernickel bread, beef cheek ravioli with a pan gravy and shaved Parmesan and ended with a dessert risotto with figs and a verjus reduction.

Because I know what a verjus reduction is....

Andrew was a bit impatient with his beef cheeks in the pressure cooker and that probably did him in.  But he put forth a great effort and the judges loved his dishes, they just loved Nathan's a bit more.

Andrew should be very proud!  I'm proud of him!  And I bet there are chefs just waiting for the day he's old enough to work in a professional kitchen!

Congrats Andrew!  It was fun watching you this season!  You're definitely a MasterChef in our book!
