What a headline right? November is National Sleep Comfort Month. A good night's sleep is the best feeling in the world. Conversely, a bad night's sleep ruins your entire day. Everyone has their own bedtime routine to give them the most optimal sleeping experience. Trying to find the perfect mattress, the perfect pillows, and the perfect temperature turns into a Goldilocks situation of too hot, too cold, too firm, and too soft.

While finding a way to get all of your variables synced up may take some trial and error, there is one thing you can do to up your sleeping game. Rather than adding something to your bedtime routine, you can take away one step. You no longer have to put pajamas on. Sleeping naked may give you a more restful sleep.

Studies have shows that sleeping in the buff will heighten your quality of sleep. According to Forbes.com:

Researchers at the University of Amsterdam found that lowering your skin temperature increases the depth of your sleep and reduces the number of times you wake up in the night. Stripping down to your birthday suit is a great way to lower your skin temperature without changing the temperature of the room.

Overall the links between sleeping naked and quality of sleep revolves around your body temperature. As much as we like the idea of being warm and cozy while we sleep, it isn't actually all that good for you. Your body does much better sleeping if you're cooler rather than warmer.

In an article from FitnessMagazine.com, the optimal sleeping temperature is between 60 and 68 degrees Fahrenheit. The article stated, "...[S]leeping in colder temperatures is not only comfortable, it can also increase your ability to fall into a deeper sleep and reduce the number of times you wake up throughout the night, reports a study from the University of Amsterdam."

In that same article by Forbes they claim that, "A study conducted by the U.S. National Institutes of Health found that keeping yourself cool while you sleep speeds the body’s metabolism..."

Cosmopolitan addressed the benefits of sleeping in the nude in which they stated, "being too warm at night also disrupts the release of melatonin and growth hormone — the two main anti-aging hormones."

All articles also stated that since you will be sleeping better by sleeping naked your stress level will be lower and your immune system will be better.
