When you think of the key to a long life, you may think to eat well and exercise. You would be wrong. Experts say that drinking alcohol is the key to a long life. A study was done with Americans that are 90-years-old and over to see what the secret was. The study began in 2003 by the Clinic for Aging Research and Education in Laguna Woods, California.

The conclusion was that people who drank two glasses of wine or beer a day had an 18% increase in the odds of living longer than those who didn't. Although they cannot find the link as to why these findings happen, researchers do believe there is a link.

Dr. Claudia Kawas, the head of the study said, "I have no explanation for it, but I do firmly believe that modest drinking improves longevity."

Shockingly, being skinny was not an advantage to this age group. The research showed that exercising did help in living a long life, as did having a hobby. However, being overweight, but not obese, increased the chances of a long life.
