Have you ever driven by this South Jersey oddity located on Main Street in West Creek?

I'm trying to figure out what's with the chair at the very top of this house, which was built around 1873.  According to one theory on Roadside America.com, a sea captain's wife would sit in the chair, watching and waiting for his safe return.

Another theory from a local, involves a gossiping wife who was sent to sit up there by her husband, if she wanted to continue to gossip.

I not a big fan of heights, and just looking at this picture makes me a little squeamish. There is no way I would even consider sitting on that chair.
