I have known Bill Elliott and his family for more than 25 years and I will never forget when I found out that his son, Ensign John R. Elliott, had been killed by a drunk driver just days after my son had been born.  After that unimaginable news, Bill and his family made the commitment to do everything in their power to keep that tragedy from happening to others. That is when the Hero Campaign for Designated Drivers was born.

Fast forward 16 years and Bill, his wife Muriel and so many other caring volunteers have worked tirelessly to promote the Hero Campaign.  Their latest endeavor, the Herotini Mocktail Challenge, in which local restaurants and taverns compete to develop the best non-alcoholic beverage.

This summer the various creative drinks received hundreds of thousands of votes and the top ten will be featured at the Herotini Happening Finals at Stockton Seaview Resort in Galloway this Thursday at 6pm. I feel so privileged to be on the judging panel for this wonderful event to promote safe and sober driving.  Check out my conversation with Bill Elliott about the event. Please join us this Thursday and support the Hero Campaign!
