Why Thanksgiving is the Best Holiday

I get into many arguments with my brother over my feelings towards Thanksgiving. He is constantly telling me that Thanksgiving can't be my favorite holiday because Christmas is the best. If you asked him which are his favorite holidays, he would respond with Christmas, Christmas Eve, and then Christmas again... My list is very different, Thanksgiving, St. Patrick's Day, and Easter.

I am a weird, peculiar person I know.

Today we are doing our 4th Annual Feed a Family Radiothon to provide South Jersey families with a Thanksgiving meal. As someone who loves Thanksgiving this is extremely important to me that families get to sit down and enjoy a nice turkey dinner.

Here are the reasons why Thanksgiving is the best holiday:

The food is the best.
Name a holiday with better food, I'll wait... If any Italian tries to say that the 7 fishes on Christmas Eve is better, just don't. The Thanksgiving dinner is so good they make sandwiches for it.

Speaking of food cold leftovers rock.
You know the scene in A Christmas Story when the neighbors' dogs eat their turkey? The narrator aka older Ralphie goes through all of the things they will be missing out on with the leftover turkey. Yes, I used a Christmas movie to profess my love for Thanksgiving. Let's move on.

It's all about family.
Today having a sit down family meal happens less and less often. We have a dining room table we use maybe once a year. Thanksgiving is a time to come together as a family.

Thanksgiving is a time to remember everything we are thankful for.
Not that I don't like Christmas, but to sound annoyingly cliche it has become very commercial. Christmastime has us in a daze to buy gifts and get them wrapped. Many families have the tradition of going around the table and telling everyone something they are thankful for on Thanksgiving.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Thanksgiving Day Parade. The balloons, the performances, and Santa at the end make for a terrific tradition.

I also really love the dog show.
In one day we have awesome food and dogs? Life is good on Thanksgiving.
