Attention Walmart shoppers! The New Jersey Supreme Court has spoken and the long-delayed Walmart Supercenter planned for in Egg Harbor Township has been given the go ahead.

The proposed development is a total of 240,000 square feet, including a 120,000-square-foot Wal-Mart, has been on hold for over four years after a lawsuit in 2011 by Village Supermarkets, Inc., which owns ShopRite in the English Creek Shopping Center and ShopRite of Somers Point.

The case has been winding its way through the court system and a lengthy appeals process. The state Supreme Court denied a final appeal last Thursday, Oct. 22.

Building of the new store complex at Fire Road and the Black Horse Pike, in the old Atlantic City Electric Company site, is expected to take a year after construction starts.
