An Atlantic City man could be spending up to the next five years in state prison after pleading guilty to an aggravated assault that happened in 2015.

Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner says 27-year-old Ibn Hunter of Atlantic City pleaded guilty to second degree aggravated assault for striking a woman in the face in an attempt to cause serious bodily injury on October 17, 2015, in Atlantic City.

A press release says that in exchange for his plea, the State agreed to recommend a sentence of five years in state prison. Hunter will be subject to a three year term of parole supervision upon his release.

The defendant was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending sentencing. The charges against co-defendant Anthony Faulkner are still active and he has a court date on March 1st.
