Johnny Cash's name was burnin'-up the country charts this week in 1963.

First recorded by June Carter Cash's sister, Anita Carter, "Ring of Fire," written by Johnny and June Carter Cash with Merle Kilgore, appears on the "Ring of Fire:The Best of Johnny Cash" best-of album. The song was recorded in March, 1963, and within four months, hit the number one spot on the country charts, where it would stay for seven weeks. "Ring of Fire" became the biggest hit of Johnny Cash's career. Nearly half a century later, the song has been downloaded over 1.2 million times.
