Cops: Assaulted, Unconscious Man Found on Atlantic City Sidewalk Friday

Authorities are investigating the circumstances behind an unconscious man, who appears to have been assaulted, being found on a sidewalk in Atlantic City Friday afternoon.

Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner made the announcement Monday afternoon that his office along with the Atlantic City Police Department are working together in this case as the victim remains in the hospital in critical condition.

Tyner says at about 4:00 Friday afternoon, the Atlantic City Police Department received a 911 call about an unconscious man on the 500 north block of Trenton Avenue. Arriving officers found 51-year-old Christopher Irons of Atlantic City unconscious on the sidewalk. Detectives believe he was assaulted.

Irons was taken to Atlanticare Regional Medical Center-City Campus for treatment; he was last reported to be in critical condition.
