Police are increasing patrols near an Atlantic City school after gunfire erupted leaving one teenager dead and another wounded.

The shooting happened as students left the Pennsylvania Avenue School on Wednesday afternoon.

Atlantic County Prosecutors say a 13-year-old Angel Mercado-Santiago was shot in the chest and died following an argument. A 15-year-old was wounded in the leg and is expected to survive, but his name and further details have not been disclosed.

Atlantic City Police Chief Henry White tells The Press of Atlantic City investigators are looking at surveillance video to try to identify any suspects.

The killing was the second of the new year in Atlantic City. A man was found stabbed to death in a condominium on Pacific Avenue about an hour earlier on Wednesday.
