As of Monday, Cape May County is reporting 167 positive COVID-19 cases and now eight deaths, including a 77-year-old woman who lived at Victoria Manor in Lower Township.

That nursing home has seen six deaths from the virus through this past weekend, accounting for 75% of all COVID-19 fatalities in the county.

Outside of Victoria Manor, Dennis Township and Upper Township each have recorded one death, according to the Cape May County Herald.

In a press release, Cape May County Health Officer Kevin Thomas said, "It’s critically important that we continue to stay home and limit our contact with others. Some initial indications suggest that these types of community mitigations are having a positive impact on decreasing the spread of disease."

According to officials, Lower Township leads Cape May County with 54 positive cases, followed by Middle Township with 33. All other municipalities report less than a dozen cases. Cape May and Stone Harbor continue to report zero.
