Egg Harbor Township Man Sentenced to 45 Years in Prison for 2018 Murder

An Egg Harbor Township man has been sentenced to 45 years in prison on a first degree murder charge, according to Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner.

37-year-old Troy Demby was convicted by a jury this past March on first degree murder, first degree possession with intent to distribute CDS-Cocaine, and third degree possession of CDS-Cocaine charges in connection to the shooting death of 30 year-old Raphael G. Terrigino.

Demby was sentenced on Tuesday to 45 years in New Jersey state prison with 85-percent parole ineligibility. This sentence is to run concurrent to 15 years with a 5-year parole ineligibility.

According to the prosecutor's office,

Terrigino was found deceased on February 2, 2018, by Pleasantville Police responding to a 911 call at 7:45 a.m. Patrol officers arrived at 12 Stenton Avenue in Pleasantville and located Terrigino inside his vehicle, deceased. An autopsy determined cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head.

The same indictment also charged Demby with First degree Possession of CDS with Intent to Distribute, after investigators discovered and seized approximately 8 ounces of cocaine in a home where the defendant was located on February 7, 2018.

Tyner said in a statement, "I want to thank the Major Crimes Unit and the Pleasantville Police Department for their outstanding work in solving this case and bringing this defendant to justice. I have always stressed my belief that a homicide is the most heinous crime against society and when it occurs, defendants should receive as much time as possible. This defendant will have 45 years to think about the pain he caused the victim’s family and all of those affected by this senseless killing."
