Living in Jersey is kind of like living in a totally different country sometimes.

We have our own way of driving, it's usually aggressive and doesn't involve turn signals or making left-hand turns.

We have a pretty specific way of filling our vehicles at the pump since we're the only state that still doesn't allow drivers to pump gas themselves.

And we even have our own way of ordering food, for example, "I'd like a PEC on a hard roll with SPK".

Loosely translated that means you want a pork roll egg and cheese with salt, pepper, and ketchup.

As a transplant to the Garden State, by way of Philadelphia, I'm no stranger to areas that have their own unique way of speaking, but Jersey really is in a league of its own.

For example, I had no idea that I was pronouncing Forked River wrong for the first month I lived in Ocean County.

And people were not afraid to quickly and aggressively point out my mistake!

Jersey has so many of its own words and little idiosyncrasies that really make it a fun place to live, and once you get a handle on the language, living here is a blast.

I asked on the 105.7 The Hawk Facebook Page to say you live in Jersey without saying you live in Jersey, and the responses were 100 percent New Jersey.
