This is a warning for seafood lovers that you should hear about before your next shopping trip.  There is a widespread food recall due to Listeria contamination and it includes New Jersey.

Routine product testing showed that there were in fact Listeria Monocytogenes in a ready-to-eat cocktail shrimp found at Lidl.

The package comes in seven ounces and it is packaged as the “Tapas Cocktail Shrimp by Lidl”.  It was shipped out to all store locations including the ones in New Jersey.

The Mayo Clinic says,

Healthy people rarely become ill from listeria infection, but the disease can be fatal to unborn babies, newborns, and people with weakened immune systems. Prompt antibiotic treatment can help curb the effects of listeria infection.

Someone with a healthy immune system who comes down with a Listeria infection will usually experience a high fever, stiffness, severe headache, nausea, and diarrhea, although very unpleasant, most recover.

Just for clarity here is the UPC number for the affected product:  4056489411499. If you did buy this you are able to bring it to Lidl and get a full refund. It seems that Lidl really acted quickly to the quality control testing by stopping the production of the product.  No one has reported an illness to this point.

More support for the argument for not cooking.  LOL.
