How Much Snow Will NJ Get This Winter? We Have the Answer
Now that summer is over, our thoughts turn to fall and before you know it winter will be upon us.
Growing up in New Jersey in the 70s, I vividly remember winter days playing with friends in the snow.
The snow would be waist-high, but we didn't care. We'd make forts, play football in the snow, and of course, have the occasional snowball fight.
We don't seem to get that kind of snow anymore.
I don't think you'd find me making snow forts (maybe), but I do love watching the snow fall, especially at night as the lights twinkle in the snowflakes.
Old Farmer's Almanac Long Time Prognosticator
I was excited when I heard the Old Farmer's Almanac was out with their snow predictions.
The Old Farmer's Almanac has been around forever.
In reality, it has been around since 1792 and is considered by many to be the pre-eminent authority on predicting things like snowfall.
How accurate is the Old Farmer's Almanac?
How Accurate is the Old Farmer's Almanac
The publication claims their 2024 winter predictions were correct an impressive 80% of the time.
Last year's predictions were a mixed bag. They predicted above-average snowfall for our state, and we were about 18 inches below.
They did predict snow storms in December, January, and February, but that would seem like a pretty obvious call.
The Old Farmer's Almanac claims to have secret formulas for creating their predictions, and people take them seriously.
So what can we expect in New Jersey?
Will New Jersey Get Any Snow This Winter
According to the Almanac, New Jersey should see a milder than normal winter, although we may see two significant snowfalls in Jersey.
One snowfall is expected in late December, and another in late February.
If you're thinking of planning a Caribbean vacation, you should consider leaving in mid-December, early or late January, or late February.
Those are the periods the Almanac is predicting to be hit with periods of cold weather.
With heating prices expected to be high this winter, the milder-than-normal weather is a welcomed prediction.
