🔴 Urgent Recall of Popular Tortilla Strips
🔴 Product Sold in 22 States Including NJ and PA
🔴 Recall is Due to Allegen Contamination
Just in time for Thanksgiving, the US Food and Drug Administration has issued an urgent recall for a popular dinner item.
The item in question is the 3.5 ounce package of Fresh Gourmet Tortilla Strips Santa Fe Style.
The strips are produced by Sugar Foods and has the UPC Code 7 87359 17504 6 and has a best-by date of June 20, 2025.
The recall was issued due to what is described as a contamination of undeclared wheat allergen.
Those who have a wheat allergy, or are sensitive to wheat, may become seriously ill or may suffer a life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these strips.
The problem with the strips was discovered when a consumer contacted the company on November 19 to inform them that pouches that were supposed to contain Tortilla Strips contained The Crispy Onion Strips.
To date, no illnesses have been reported.
Packages of the Tortilla Strips were produced between September 30, 2020 and November 11, 2024.
The strips were produced in stand-up packages and sent to distribution centers in AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, IA, ID, IL, IN, MD, ME, MI, MN, NC, NJ, OH, OR, PA, TX, UT, VA, and WA.
For those who have purchased the impacted strips are urged to return them to the place of purchase or throw them away.
If you have questions about the recall, you can contact their Consumer Care Department at Customerfeedback@sugarfoods.com.
Additionally, the company can be contacted by phone at 332-240-6676 Monday through Friday from 9 am until 5 pm EST.
