NJ’s Only Clothing-Optional Beach. What You Need to Know
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to go to a nude beach?
I'm guessing that many of us had thought of it at one time or another, but our inhibitions prevented us from acting on those thoughts.
Here in New Jersey, we have one clothing-optional beach. Gunnison Beach is located at Sandy Hook, in Monmouth County. You may be surprised by how different the reality is, from the pictures you have in your head.
I spoke to someone who has been to Gunnison on several occasions, and he agreed to share some thoughts but didn't want his name shared.
He told me that if you go there thinking you'll see a beach filled with model-like bodies, you'll be disappointed.
He said the people who visit the beach are everyday people with everyday bodies. More importantly, people don't lie around, watching others.
Taking pictures while at the beach is generally frowned upon. If you do take pictures, be respectful of others.
It's a big beach, leave some room between you and others. You'll find a lot of friendly people at the beach, and people are very social, but that doesn't mean they want you on top of them.
No sex. Going to Gunnison is not meant to be a sexual adventure. It is a family-friendly beach. Doing the naughty can get you locked up.
If you plan to go, bring sun protection. Parts of your body unaccustomed to the sun will burn.
Plan your day. People are reporting heavy traffic getting to the parking area.
Admission is 20 dollars.
