There has been plenty of talent from South Jersey and the Cape-Atlantic League that have heard their name called in recent years at the MLB Draft.

This year another former Cape-Atlantic League player had his name called on draft day, former Cedar Creek and Holy Spirit pitcher Dave Hagaman. The Egg Harbor City resident has been drafted in the fourth round of the MLB Draft by the Texas Rangers with the No. 133 overall pick in the draft.

Hagaman has spent the past two seasons pitching for West Virginia University where he pitched 35 innings, recording a 5.91 ERA with 49 strikeouts and 19 walks this season. As a as a redshirt freshman in 2023, he pitched both out of the bullpen and as a starter with a 3.52 ERA in 38.1 innings.

As a senior at Holy Spirit, Hagaman was dominate, finishing with 81 strikeouts in 48.2 innings, allowing just 15 earned runs. Before transferring to Holy Spirit, Hagaman attended Cedar Creek High and helped the Pirates' to 2019 Group 2 championship game.

He does have two more years of eligibility left with WVU and could elect to return to Morgantown.
