South Jersey Stepping Up To Raise Money For Family Who Lost Everything In House Fire
After a South Jersey family lost their home and possessions in a devastating fire, the local community is stepping up to raise money for them.
On July 22nd, while Teddy and Courtney Bohn were out of town celebrating their anniversary and their children were staying at the Grandparent's house, the family's home in Rio Grande burned to the ground. According to reports, an electrical fire consumed the entire property on Edgewood Avenue and caved in the roof.
The Fire Department responded during the early morning hours and now the family is staying with friends while they hope to rebuild their home. The Bohn Children have lost all of their clothes and possessions while the parents lost reportedly 90 percent of their possessions too.
What Is The Cape May County Community Doing To Help The Bohn Family?
A GoFundMe has been started for the Bohn Family with already over $17,500 has been raised. The GoFundMe goal is currently $50,000 to help the family not just rebuild their home but also give the family money needed to replace clothes and other possessions.
One South Jersey Business is stepping up to also raise for the Bohn Family. Located at the intersection of Bayshore Road and Route 9, Gusto Brewing Company has announced they will be raising money from now through Wednesday, August 7th.
Gusto Brewing Company's Instagram and Facebook account announced that portions of proceeds from all beer sales will go directly to the Bohn Family. As part of their statement, they highlighted that both Courtney and Teddy Bohn are Cape May County First Responders while Teddy is a Veteran of the United States Military.
Helping the community has been important to Gusto Brewing's Zach Pashley over the last five years. Zach and his wife, Adriana, are co-owners of New Jersey's southernmost brewery. Zach served in the United States Coast Guard for six years, so this fundraising is important to the Pashleys and Gusto Brewing on multiple levels.
If you cannot make it to Gusto Brewing Company between now and Wednesday, August 7th to drink some craft beers, you can visit the GoFundMe page here to help the Bohn Family. But I highly recommend you go visit Gusto Brewing Company this summer because they have some of the best craft beers you will find in South Jersey.
