The G.O.A.T. is Jim Gardner, who retired following one of the greatest careers in American news journalism history.
Gardner retired on December 21, 2022. He cannot be replaced.
Jim O’Brien was one of the most popular Philadelphia television personalities of all-time. He died tragically in a parachuting accident on September 25, 1983.
41 years after O’Brien’s death … he is still remembered and beloved.
Bill White may be most famous during his career as a New York Yankees television broadcaster … however, White joined 6abc Action News in April, 1970.
As a baseball player, White played from1956 to 1969 for the Giants (New York and San Francisco), the St. Louis Cardinals and the Philadelphia Phillies. He won seven straight Gold Gloves as a talented first baseman.
Gary Papa died on June 19, 2009, after a battle with cancer. He was only 54 years old at the time if his passing.
Papa was a long-time, beloved sportscaster for 6abc Action News.
Dave Roberts ended his 6abc Action News career on December 11, 2009, during the 6:00 p.m. newscast … appropriately alongside his long-time colleague, the legendary Jim Gardner.
Anita Brikman announced need that she would be leaving 6abc Action News in October, 2007.
Although she left more than 17 years ago, Brikman is fondly remembered by fans of 6abc Action News.
Vernon Odom retired on December 14, 2018. He worked at 6abc Action News for more than 40 years. You almost never see a broadcaster mark 40 years with the sane company.
Odom created a rare and special bond with his audience.
Cathy Gandolfo enjoyed longevity and popularity on 6abc Action News.
Gandolfo retired (in October, 2013) after 36 years of covering Philadelphia, South Jersey and the world.
Gandolfo is active and very positive in her social media presence to this day.
Rob Jennings retired from 6abc Action News on July 21, 2013. Jennings is fondly remembered more than a decade after leaving.
Nora Muchanic retired from 6abc Action News on October 31, 2017, after more than 30 years.
Muchanic was an effective and talent … pioneer of reporting from the field. She was popular an enduring on-air personality.
