The scene unfolded around 10:45 when, according to the Stone Harbor Fire Department, their members were dispatched to assist the North Wildwood Fire Department with a water rescue.

First responders found two kayakers in distress about a half-mile off of Stone Harbor Point in the ocean. By using Waverunners, two firefighters rescued the pair and brought them back to the beach in Stone Harbor.

According to officials, one of the kayaks had capsized and both victims were clinging to the second kayak that was sinking.

The ocean water temperature is currently in the lower 40s.

The Avalon and Wildwood Fire Departments and Atlanticcare paramedics assisted with the incident. No injuries were reported.
