No injuries were reported in a fire Sunday afternoon that damaged three condominium units in Egg Harbor Township.

The blaze started around 3:00 at the Clubs at Tilton on Hingston Avenue between Tilton and Old Egg Harbor Roads.

According to the Egg Harbor Township Police Department, smoke and flames were seen coming from a first floor unit which spread to an upstairs unit.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire, however, three units sustained heavy damage.

Police say a civilian, Robert Weiss, passed by the complex and saw the fire. He took it upon himself to alert residents to the blaze by knocking on doors.

Bargaintown Fire Department Lieutenant Josh Treat and Egg Harbor Township Police Officer Thomas Rizzotte breached the front door of one of the units to rescue two dogs that were trapped inside. The dogs did not appear to suffer injury as a result of the fire.

In addition to Bargaintown, fire departments from Farmington, Cardiff, Northfield, and Atlantic City International Airport responded to the complex.

Hingston Avenue and Old Egg Harbor Road were shut down for several hours while firefighters extinguished the fire.
