
78-year-old man killed on Black Horse Pike in Egg Harbor Twp., NJ
A 78-year-old man was struck and killed on the Black Horse Pike in Egg Harbor Township early Wednesday morning.
Authorities say the accident happened just before 12:15 AM at Oak Tree Drive, in front of Walmart.
According to the Egg Harbor Township Police Department, a 2015 Honda CRV being driven by 76-year-old Nathaniel Lolley of Wilmington, DE, was headed eastbound on the Pike when he hit 78-year-old Leon Barrett of Pleasantville who was walking in the roadway.
The collision resulted in Barrett sustaining fatal injuries and being pronounced dead at the scene.
Lolley and his passenger were evaluated at the scene and taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Egg Harbor Township EMS, Atlanticare Paramedics, the Farmington and Cardiff Fire Departments, New Jersey State Police, and the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office all assisted EHT police at the scene.
The eastbound lanes of the Black Horse Pike between Fire Road and Oak Tree Drive were closed for about three hours while the crash scene was investigated and cleared.
