Adult Daycare Worker Charged with Abuse in Burlington County
Authorities in South Jersey say a man who worked at an adult daycare facility has been charged with allegedly abusing one of the patients that he cared for.
Charges Filed
45-year-old Fuller P. Williams of Burlington City is facing one count of third-degree endangering the welfare of a disabled adult and a disorderly persons offense of simple assault.
Investigation Details
The Burlington County Prosecutor's Office says an investigation began earlier this summer after officers from the Medford Township Police Department were called to the Friends of Cyrus Adult Day Services Program for a report of suspected abuse to a resident.
The investigation determined that Williams beat the autistic, adult male victim with a thin cord, causing multiple injuries and welts to his back and buttocks.
The injuries were discovered by staff members of the facility who contacted law enforcement to report the abuse, prosecutors said.
Williams was taken into custody on July 29th and later released following an appearance in Superior Court in Mount Holly.
The investigation was conducted by the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office along with the Burlington City and Medford Township Police Departments. Williams will be prosecuted by attorneys from the BCPO Special Victims Unit.
The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
