Car Catches Fire Directly in Front of Fire Department in Egg Harbor Township
Egg Harbor Township, N.J. — Of all the places to have your car catch fire on the Black Horse Pike, directly in front of a fire station might actually be the best possible option.
Relatively speaking, that is.
That's exactly what happened Monday morning at about 9:00 in the Cardiff section of Egg Harbor Township, where a white Mercedes sedan was engulfed along the shoulder of the eastbound Black Horse Pike, right in front of the Cardiff Fire Department building near Spruce Avenue.

We drove past just as firefighters were arriving at the department. Several Good Samaritans were already at the scene with fire extinguishers, while others were trying to put out small fires in the westbound lanes and the median opening.
That would suggest the fire may have started before the Mercedes reached the location, although that's pure speculation on our part.

Even more ironic is the fact that the building next to the fire department is a... wait for it... Mercedes dealership.
