Prosecutor: North Cape May, NJ, Man Had Over 1,800 Child Porn Files
Authorities in Cape May County say a man from North Cape May is facing a child porn charge after being arrested late last week.
35-year-old John T. Gillespie, Jr., was taken into custody on February 10th and charged with second-degree possession of child pornography, according to Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland.
This investigation stemmed from a National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (N.C.M.E.C.) CyberTip that revealed an unidentified subject, subsequently identified as John T. Gillespie Jr., possessed various videos and images of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) and uploaded them to his personal google account.
Last Friday, law enforcement officers executed a search warrant on Gillespie’s home on Townbank Road, and, "multiple computers, tablets and an external hard drive were seized from the residence and found to contain over eighteen hundred (1,800) items of suspected Child Sexual Abuse Materials (CSAM)."
After being arrested, Gillespie was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center with the anticipation of being lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center pending court proceedings.
Sutherland's office says those charged with a second-degree crime are subject to five to ten years in state prison if found guilty.
The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
