A Mays Landing woman is facing charges after police say she attempted to burglarize a house this past weekend.

Hamilton Township Police say they responded to the 6300 block of Liberty Ave. around 7:30 Saturday morning for the report of an attempted burglary in progress. According to police, the caller reported an unknown person, who was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, was attempting to break into a house before fleeing on foot south on Liberty Ave.

Authorities say they found a woman, later identified as 27-year-old Nicole Such of Mays Landing, matching the suspect’s description in the backyard of a vacant home on the 6200 block of Lance Avenue. Such, according to police, was in possession of a large purse containing electronics, a black ski mask, and a black Crosman Air Gun, which resembled a real gun.

The owners of the electronics are unknown at this time.

Such was charged with attempted burglary, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and possession of a weapon by certain person. She was lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
