The Funtown Pier amusement park was completely destroyed by Hurricane Sandy and also went through a devastating fire.  And now it seems like it will not be rebuilt.

According to NJ.com,

The Seaside Park planning board rejected thrill rides taller than 100 feet at a meeting (last) Tuesday night and the lawyer for the amusement park owner told the officials that decision may seal the pier's fate

It's now up to the borough council to accept or reject the planning board's recommendation for the pier.

Sad news for those that loved the rides at the south end of Seaside Heights Boardwalk.  The owners of Funtown Pier would like to rebuild, making the park bigger and better than ever.
