The search is over for a flip-flop-wearing bank bandit and police in Somers Point are thanking the public for their cooperation in apprehending the suspect.

The Press of Atlantic City reports that a 52-year-old-Somers Point resident was arrested and charged for the robbery of the Republic Bank located at New and Bethel roads in Somers Point.  There was no weapon involved in the robbery and undetermined amount cash was stolen from the bank on the afternoon of Thursday, April 8th.

The suspect was described as a six-foot-one or six-foot-two white male between 30 and 40 years old. The suspect also had on black Nike flip-flops and was also wearing dark clothing and shorts.

Greg Bishop was apprehended by Somers Point Police and is in custody at the Atlantic County Jail. The police gave credit to members of the public who helped identify and eventually lead to the capture of the suspect.

Somers Point police were on the scene within 70 seconds of the robbery but the suspect had already fled to a nearby apartment complex.
