As the state continues to debate over how it wishes to take over Atlantic City, Mayor Don Guardian is planning on closing city hall next month while maintaining essential city services. Without state aid, city workers will stop getting paychecks in a matter of days.

As the State Assembly begins discussing taking over Atlantic City's city government, Mayor Don Guardian is taking bus-loads of residents to Trenton today. The Mayor spoke to us exclusively this morning about how far he is willing to go to stop the state, including even spending time in jail.

At a Tuesday afternoon press conference, Gov. Christie said the state will assume vast control over Atlantic City's money and decision-making, saying the city cannot get its own financial house in order and, "the only thing that is really holding Atlantic City back is its governmental structure and the debt and the cost of its government."

Following Governor Christie's pocket veto of the PILOT bill on Tuesday, Atlantic City Mayor Don Guardian says bankruptcy for the city is now back on the table.

It's what just about everyone in the Atlantic City region has been fearful about for years: the day casinos would be allowed in other parts of the state. And now it appears voters in New Jersey will decide the fate of casino expansion next year.
