This week in 1978, New Jersey and most of the Northeast were hit with a blizzard of epic proportions. Here in New Jersey, between February 5th and the 7th, we were blanketed with over 15 inches of snow. The Northern part of the state took the biggest brunt of this storm, but the whole state got something.

I also thought it would be fun to share some random facts about snow that you can use to dazzle your friends as you take a snow day today.

Inland areas in the south have a better chance of wintry weather if temperatures remain cold in New Jersey.

Saturday night's storms wreaked havoc on a lot of the Garden State. 15 New Jersey towns were officially confirmed to have been in the path of a tornado.

If you received a tsunami alert on your cell phone at around 8:30am Tuesday, it was a false alarm. According to Philly.com, the National Weather Service is investigating why some Jersey Shore residents received a tsunami alert on their Verizon cell phones.
