The Atlantic County Division of Public Health reported 102 new COVID-19 cases in Atlantic County on Tuesday and five new deaths.

The five deaths were due to complications from COVID-19 and they include a 71-year-old man and a 73-year-old woman from Linwood as well as a 75-year-old man, an 86-year old man, and an 86-year-old woman from Hammonton.

The 102 new cases reported today are among 39 men (ages 26-95) and 63 women (ages 19-95).

The countywide total now stands at 878 cases, 35 deaths, and 127 residents cleared as recovered.

This is the second day in a row where cases topped 100. 108 new cases were reported on Monday with 66 of those in Hammonton.

Authorities say the county continues to see a spike in daily cases because the state is working to provide testing at 16 long-term care facilities in South Jersey. Positive cases in these facilities are now being included in the county’s daily counts. As more testing is completed, more positive cases are being identified.

Today's cases per town/township:
Hammonton, Galloway Township - 27 each
Absecon - 20
Atlantic City, Egg Harbor Township - 7 each
Hamilton Township - 5
Pleasantville - 4
Somers Point, Ventnor City - 2 each

COVID-19 testing for county residents will continue on Thursday at Hamilton Mall in Mays Landing. For an appointment and a full list of qualifications, visit the county's website.
