Blake Shelton Wins Entertainer of the Year at 2012 CMAs, Responds With Shock and Awe
Reba McEntire and Tim Allen teamed up at the 2012 CMA awards to hand out the most coveted trophy of the night: the Entertainer of the Year award. Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, Blake Shelton and 2011 winner Taylor Swift were all nominated for EoTY, but in the end, Shelton beat out the competition.
To say that Shelton and his supportive wife, Miranda Lambert, were shocked to hear Allen and McEntire call out his name is an understatement.
"I didn't even go back and change," Shelton said. "Entertainer of the Year? What are you talking about?" he cried out in shock.
He then went back in time and reminisced about the goals he set for himself when he arrived in Nashville back in 1994. Shelton set his sights on winning a gold record and becoming a member of the Grand Ole Opry, but he never even considered winning a CMA for Entertainer of the Year.
And tonight, the dream he didn't even know he had was realized. Shelton was still in shock when the music cued up and the CMAs came to a close.
